The answer that turned into a Loki essay.

Reblogged from latitans

latitans:

These questions were put to me after I wrote The answer that turned into a Thor essay.

The answer to the first question has turned into a 2400 word monster about the way I think Loki works in JiM. I shamelessly draw parallels with movie!Loki, no matter how problematic that may be.

I hope you’re sitting comfortably. And I’m sorry.

This is exactly how I see it. I don’t blame Thor at all for screwing up with Loki because how would he know how to raise a teenager? Odin abandoned them both and Thor always has enemies to fight, not to mention the fact that he *died* and had to fight his way back to life. Thor’s been busy, and while he obviously had the best of intentions sometimes things just don’t turn out the way people hope.

I think the problem with Thor and Loki in both JiM/TMT and the MCU is their inability to see each other in terms of shades of grey. It’s either “beloved brother” or “hated enemy”, not anything in-between.
